Martial arts is artistic movement, celebrating power and building mental strength and health. The joy of training, of perfecting techniques, and of building physical and mental confidence, can be lost in traditional male-dominated, hierarchy-driven and competitive environments. We are a martial arts club for women, by women. I founded MAUL on the principle of martial arts for all shapes, all ages, all styles of learning and all levels of confidence. My Taekwondo club is built on respect and teamwork, where we study the philosophy alongside martial technique. We learn, we teach, we work together. We support each other over every obstacle and through every challenge.

I like this club. I have been participating here in training for a year. The first time I participated in Mual was when I first arrived in the UK. I don't know much about British culture and English, but I'm happy to make new friends here. Everyone is very tolerant, and inclusive, and loves to help each other. Every class is very interesting and we can learn a lot. The instructors will not only teach traditional Taekwondo which is only focuses on kicks, but also will add a lot of skills, such as weapons, women's self-defense, etc. All coaching is voluntary, and this club is also a non-profit organization. I can feel that they try very hard help ladies, especially those who are trapped in traditional concepts, and more easily to practice their favorite martial arts. They really create inclusive, happy and relaxed learning environment. They even provides language and training assistance specifically for newcomers with English, or senior age members. All in all, I am glad to join Mual and train here for some time.

I was a complete beginner when I first came here. It is very beginner friendly, everyone is welcoming and willing to help you regardless of the colour of their belt. For me is a safe space where can get more in touch with my body and provides a community that I was looking for!

Friendly, supportive, non-judgemental, non-competitive club with a wide range of abilities. I started MAUL having never done martial arts before, and it has changed my life for the better in so many ways.
