Absolutely love training here, I’ve been around 10-15 times now for classes and open mats. First and foremost the gym is absolutely spotless and the mats are cleaned throughly after each session, the room is well ventilated during training and the changing rooms are clean. All the coaches have always had a welcoming attitude and been kind enough to expand on techniques been taught in the class and answer any questions I may have had. The students all seem great and create a welcome environment to train and cater to everyone’s needs an abilities no one appears to try be a “gym champion” but at the same time if hard competitive rounds are wanted they will happily oblige. The level of the mat is high quality plenty of coloured belts who are all keen to roll and give solid feedback afterwards. Finally professor Lewis is a great guy who has been kind enough to roll with me frequently when I have attended, communication before attending has been clear and hes always encouraging me to improve both at my own gym and here. Anyone in Harrogate wanting to start martial arts should definitely go down and take the trail class they will be more than impressed I have also heard great things about the kids classes as a close friends daughter is a member and she loves it.

The team at GB Harrogate have always made me feel welcome, safe and a valued member of the gym. The atmosphere amongst the students is friendly, respectful yet competitive. The classes are attended with a mix of ages, genders and abilities. There is a strong camaraderie amongst the regulars who go the extra mile to help newcomers have a great experience of Jiu Jitsu. The facilities are flawless, the admin and communication is always helpful and quick to respond. All of the above is important but it all stems from the leadership of Professor Lewis and his team who have a passion for Jiu Jitsu. Our gym has solid reputation for both teaching and competing and regularly attracts and hosts top Jiu Jitsu athletes for seminars. In my time at GB Harrogate the gym has grown in size and output. I love training here and my daughters will be joining the team when they are old enough.
