No prior experience is necessary. Shudokan Black Belt Academy welcomes complete beginners and provides a supportive environment to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fundamentals.
For your first class, bring comfortable athletic clothing, a water bottle, and a positive attitude. The gym can provide information about purchasing a gi (BJJ uniform) once you decide to continue training.

Fantastic place to attend. Our children love nothing more than attending their training of Aikido here at the academy. Fantastic Sensei’s teaching our 2 children, teaching them more than just Aikido. Nothing is too much to ask of them, both helpful and disciplined at the same time. I’d encourage anyone to join this Academy, for the martial art they learn, along with the friendly, helpful, fun and informative environment. OSU

Excellent teaching academy. Welcoming to children and adults. Has shown to encourage self awareness, confidence, respect and self defence. Would recommend to parents looking to help their little ones grow and develop in a positive way, as it has ours.

After not taking much interest in sport at school my son started Aikido at age 8 and took to it like a duck to water. The instructors are great and my son still loves going 2 years on. The academy is not only great for children though. After watching my son training for a few weeks, I loved the traditional nature of the teaching which resonated with my previous experience in another traditional Japanese martial art and I decided to take to the mat myself. No doubt my youngest will join us on the mat in the very near future! Great academy with great instructors which I can fully recommend.
