The owner needs to respond to basic questions about the schedule for mixed martial arts classes. After asking six people, the owner finally replied I inquired, "What days does Hamma teach mixed martial arts?" I eventually got the answer I needed, but it would have been simpler if the owner had just said "Tuesday" instead of sending emojis in response to my messages. When I attended my first lesson, I expected to be shown the basics, but that was not the case. Twenty minutes into the lesson, I was expected to know how to assume a southpaw stance and execute a spinning backkick. To add to my disappointment, I was charged £10 for what felt like a Mickey Mouse lesson. Hamma does not follow traditional martial arts concepts, where you are typically invited to your first lesson.

This is not a review of HAMMA per se, more a review of its owner Mr Sean Martin. I have had the pleasure of recently training Sean. He is an a absolute gentleman, very charismatic, always on time and always willing to engage with the other students, offering help and advice without hesitation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any type of training sessions with Sean at HAMMA Academy Saint Helens.
